Cold feet?

Most of us probably take for granted having warm, dry feet.  (You all probably thought I’d be talking something metaphorical like wedding jitters, didn’t ya?  But don’t leave yet!  I’ll make it worth your while.)  With multiple pairs of shoes and socks, we focus on other matters.  For me, buying socks has been as challenging as finding that mythical perfect pair of jeans.  Diabetes causes circulation problems and my feet are always cold.  I’ve gone so far as to wear two pairs of socks layered and pack my shoes with tiny heating pads for toes.

You can probably imagine my elation at discovering a sock that is so thick and cushy as to keep even my feet warm.  Thorlo walking socks may be for the jogger, with extra cushioning on the ball and heel to protect against blisters, spandex in the arch for better fit, and construction to wick moisture, but I’m in love with these babies just around the house.

So why am I boring you with talk of socks?  Ah, but it gets even better!  Thorlo partners with consumers to send socks to our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.  You buy the socks at a 45% discount and Thorlo will ship them for free!

The ideal donation is 3 pairs at $20.85–one pair to wear, one to wash, and one to dry.  Think about it, do you want to wear the same pair for weeks at a time, trudging through the desert?  Not to mention how sore your feet would be, and these socks are made to handle that.

While you’re there, you can even pick up a pair for yourself, because trust me, these socks are amazing.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Very cool! My mom is diabetic, and she has neuropathy. Her problem is she can’t stand to FEEL her socks. Does that make sense? They can’t be tight at the ankle or wherever or they’ll really bother her.

    • Hey Stacy! Yeah, that makes sense. Unfortunately, I don’t have any recommendations for that. I don’t think these socks are tight, but I still layer them over thermal pants, so that ends up a little tight. :-P They are very soft too. :-D

  2. Eeeeekkeee…I always have cold feet so I am definitely off to purchase a pair!! And what a great way to support the troops – love companies that do stuff like that. Soo awesome…
Thanks for sending such a GREAT find our way! Woot woot!!

  3. I just went and bought 2 pairs for me and 2 pairs for hubby. I ordered the “ski” brand. I am sooo pumped. I’ll keep you posted on how I like them.
FYI – I sent them a note about your blog post and told them they should send you a discount because I wouldn’t have found/bought them without your blog post and that I had since tweeted about them….so here’s hoping they pay it forward!

  4. What an amazing idea! I love it and am leaving here to go click your link.

Thanks for a great way to spread some “warmth”. LOL. I hope they follow up on Natalie’s suggestion too!

  5. My feet used to get cold all the time due to a low thyroid levels. Now I don’t have that problem anymore but I know how difficult it gets. These socks are a great find, Angela :-) I hope your toes are finally super comfy. And what an awesome idea to get a few pairs for our soldiers!

  6. Thorlos rock! We’ve been wearing them for years for skiing! How wonderful that your feet are warm and happy now. Great idea for the troops. Thanks!

I don’t have diabetes (as far as I know!) but I have terrible trouble with cold feet – and not always just cause the weather is cold! My feet will be so cold that if I put them against my fiance’s legs in bed he says it’s like I’ve got a slab of meat out of the freezer! nothing seems to help them warm up when they get like that :( Wish I knew why mine get so bad – it actually hurts and I feel like dumping them in boiling water to defrost!!

    • Sharon, I know exactly how that is. When mine get to that point, not even a heating pad over them warms them up. So I’ve got my thick Thorlo socks and toe warmers in my shoes. It helps.

  8. Thanks Angela, what a great idea and a great cause. My feet are always cold in the winter months and even in the summer with air conditioning. These sound fabulous and I love supporting the troops. Wonderful.

  9. Little heaters for your feet? Yes, please. What a superuberfabulous idea! I’m definitely going to get some of these and send some to the troops. I love that Thorlo will do this~ I was a fan of their socks before, but now I’m a fan of the company, too.

Happy Christmas, Angela! Keep those tootsies warm…
