I happen to be living two great jobs as it is: writing and publishing my books, and sign language interpreting. But I have always thought it would be awesome to be the person who gets to name colors. Paint chips, crayons, nail polish. There may not be new colors in the strictest sense, but old shades are constantly “revived.” And really, what is Perky Pink supposed to look like, except pink? And those giant boxes of crayons don’t say “Green 1,” “Green 2,” etc.
So that’s what I would love to do.
- Firestone Orange
- Bruised Purple
- Sandstone
- Spiderweb Gray
- Werewolf’s Eye (yellow)
Hmm, I could make a whole batch of “Fantasy Crayons” with colors geared toward that genre. Muahaha.
What do you think would be the best job ever? Ice cream taster? Ice cream flavor inventor? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
When a little boy was asked what he thought the best job in the world was, he replied, “Garbage man because they only work one day a week.”

Beer taster π
Hahaha. That job would require some pacing, Emma. π
Oooh, I’m with Emma, only I’d be the wine taster π
When I was little I wanted to be the person who made the waffle cones at the local ice cream shop. I was obsessed with watching them π
I remember being fascinated by the waffle cones too, Becka. The chocolate dipped ones and the sprinkles…never got to eat one though, lol.
I have ALWAYS thought it would be awesome to be the color-namer! Lipstick colors, too–never mind that I rarely wear them π “Ruby Sunset…”
Make-up has unlimited possibilities for color and flavor names, Alina. And we don’t have to wear them to name them. π
I love, love crayons and their names. I’m so with you to do that. How about a box of 96? That’s way too small–250 colors. π
Yes, Diana! Fantasy authors often need to draw maps of their worlds; why not make them in color?! Evil Lair Black, Swamp Green, Hero Gold, Dragon Scale Blue. (Could have a whole series of Dragon Scale colors, lol.)
Oh, yes, the dragons need a separate box for themselves. We should create the colors as erasable colored pencils for the map makers. Desert Sand, Cerulean Seas, Perpetual Pine… π
Excellent idea!
Sounds like a FAB job Angela…LOL!!
Best job ever – test driving off road vehicles (ATVs, motocross, jeeps, snowmobiles etc)! OMG yes! LOL!
Hahaha. That’s a good one, Natalie!
Chocolate taster. Nutella taster, wine taster (notice a trend here?)…man, there are so many I’d love. π I’d also love to take part in sleep studies. There are few things I love more than napping.
Ooh, sleep studies sounds interesting, Adriana. Think what you could learn too. And what’s better than getting paid to sleep? π
